Overview

Temporary, or nonimmigrant visas, allow individuals to enter the United States for work, study, business, tourism, or medical treatment.  Some visas are dual intent, meaning that the visa holder may attempt to obtain permanent residence while in the United States under that classification.  In other cases, nonimmigrant visa holders must provide evidence that they maintain a foreign residence that they have no intention of abandoning and that they do not intend to immigrate to the United States.
